This article analyzes how the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) can improve the provision of municipal services in the cantons of Costa Rica, contributing to greater efficiency, effectiveness, and quality in public service delivery. The use of AI tools is examined as a mechanism to support smart local governance, particularly in areas such as waste management, traceability, circular economy initiatives, and video surveillance systems with analytical capabilities for crime and accident prevention. The study emphasizes that the incorporation of artificial intelligence does not undermine the principle of legality, but rather strengthens constitutional principles related to efficiency, effectiveness, and good administration, provided that its use is aligned with the legal framework governing public action. In this context, AI is presented as a means to optimize administrative procedures, enhance transparency, and support informed decision-making by municipal authorities in the management of local interests
