This article seeks to determine the behavior of soil samples contaminated with hydrocarbons. This is because in the construction sector, any soil that contains a toxic substance should not be used for another activity, so the study determines if contaminated soil can be reused as fill material, providing a benefit. This research establishes a need that has not been given the importance it requires, considering that there is greater awareness among citizens about the problems that this represents. The methodology used was developed by washing granulometry tests, moisture content, Atterberg limits, modified Proctor and CBR, and involved consulting bibliographic sources, national and international regulations. As conclusions, this information is important for possible contamination events in the country, since research similar to this topic focuses on the remediation of contaminated soil.
