Abstract

The liberal and classical vision of rights which emerged in the XVII and XVIII centuries, in which an individualistic and homogenizing conception predominated, seems to be evolving towards a disruptive proposal with a borderless quality that outlines collective and interdisciplinary responses. This is the paradigm of intercultural harmonization of knowledge for a holistic approach to the ecosystem and climate problems afflicting the Central American ecoregion. The biocultural knowledge of Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, in conjunction with scientific studies and advances, make up a dynamic binomial of great projection and with great practical challenges. With 30 years of validity of the Tegucigalpa Protocol and 200 years of Central American independence, the environmental, climatic, and cultural community contexts demonstrate the need for a resizing.
